Improve Your Success Today

Improve Your Success Today ~ Inspirational Web Designs by Teresa

You can improve your success, starting today!

As a busy woman, you know what it is like to be pulled in a million different directions. Whether you are coordinating your preschoolers spring program, organizing a community fundraiser or building a business your to-do list is always growing.

You find yourself often exhausted and there just never seems to be enough time to get it all done.  The thought, “If I just had a few more hours in the day,” flitters across your mind often, and you find yourself dreaming of the day when things will “settle down.”

Let me share with you a little secret…

The few more hours you have been dreaming about are already available to you! Our troubles aren’t the number of hours in the day. No, our trouble is what Judith Wright likes to call soft addictions.

Before you sigh and click away, hear me out. Soft addictions aren’t some terrible affliction experienced by the weak minded. They are something we all struggle with from time to time and can be easily overcome. As Judith says in her book, “Many soft addictions involve necessary behaviors like eating, reading and sleeping. They become soft addictions when we overdo them and when they are used for more than their intended purposes.”

But don’t worry! All is not lost. In fact, with a little focused intention and practice you can find those extra hours you have been searching for today and  improve your success in some very noticeable ways.

Bringing an end to time wasting …

The first step to bringing an end to time wasting it to identify what we are wasting our time on. Essentially, we are identifying our soft addictions. Things like

  • Watching television, movies, and Netflix
  • Surfing the internet, or scrolling Pinterest and social media
  • Playing computer and video games
  • Shopping, couponing, and bargain shopping

All of these are perfectly normal activities, until they prevent us from doing what we truly want and need to do.

Identifying your time wasting …

Take a few minutes to think of the things you do in a normal day, and ask yourself these questions …

  • How much time do I spend doing this?
  • Do I have difficulty imagining how life would be without doing this?
  • Have I found myself doing this, when I know more pressing things need to be done?

The answers to these questions will give you incredible insight and awareness. With that awareness you can turn things around with a little shift in your mind set by asking yourself these questions each time you find yourself participating in one of your time-wasting activities.

  • Is there anything I am procrastinating right now?
  • Is a break doing this the most productive use of my time at this moment?
  • Am I going to have regrets at the end of the day if I keep it up?
